"Not Fair" by Shad Moss

Usually i always try to keep my mouth closed because the media tend to take my words and twist them up. I cannot go on no more with out speaking up. So i'm letting it out. People say racism does not exist anymore, Martin Luther resolved that problem. True to a certain extent, but what type of world do you think we live in? look around better yet i'll help you understand. The system say's we can sell cigs to 18 yr old kids (Which is killing them) but we can't wear our clothes the way WE want. Key word "Our" (African American style) its like they tryna take everything from us that we created when every one else follows what we do anyway. So your saying its ok to kill our kids of the future early by selling them that trash? analyze this, Lady Ga Ga wears the craziest clothes ever. I seen a pic of her walking through an airport with nothing on!! NOTHING! if you didn't know who she was you would have thought she was homeless but she doesn't get arrested. Now let that had been a black homeless lady barley clothed looking for a place for shelter police would have been surrounded by her and escorted her out. Again, Lindsay Lohan goes to jail, violated her terms gets thrown in jail, but gets right out in days. SNL is letting her now host (im sure to spoof her situation) but in reality its glorifying what she did. Wayne is in jail now over a gun that wasn't his nor could they prove it was. So why is Lil wayne there? hmmm....... think about that. Why is there a liquor store in every black community? I live in Both Miami and ATL. Let me tell you Gwinett county looks nothing like the south side or the city of ATL. We filmed "Lottery Ticket" in the projects in downtown ATL. Those apartments are now knocked down. They took away all public housing to move the inner city way out to shit they know they cant afford which leaves my people with no homes. They wanna know why we rob why kill each other why we fight over turf. They call us a menace to society, but thats because the system treats the inner city as if we don't exist. There are no library's, no malls (if so they are ran down with the worst stores) Landscaping sucks. Theres no hope. Plant opportunity's around us. Upgrade our schools, How can WE care if the world we live in don't. I have Rich friends that have never ben pass Turner field and never seen the hood before but listen to gucci mane and yo gotti all day. Raps they shit but has never seen that world they rap about. Why as a race are we still the victim. Vick goes to jail for dog fighting. Big ben (Quarterback for Steelers) had not 1 but like 2 Sexual assault cases on him he doesn't go to jail, instead the commissioner of the league gave him 6 week game suspension which was later reduced to like a 4 game suspension. You see... Same situations different kinds of people. All we want is for everything to be equal. Will there ever be peace? i guess when you die. I swear take the time to notice the little things that go on in the world. I can honestly say my 23 yrs on this earth, i have yet to see something that is fair from our system. GOD BLESS

i have to agree with you on this. Its very sad that society is still like this truly. And at the end of the day your skin color does still make a difference in some parts around the world. Its sad..

Bow Wow I'm fucking with this one right here homie. I feel the same way! it's crazy out here for us Black folks, but that's why it has to be on us as leaders to streghen our communites to the fullest. Until then the system is going to continue to shit on our culture.

wow great post bow wow. This was deep. You asked alot of questions that many people have been seeking the answers to for a long time

cdouglas90 said...

The media loves picking on Black celebs. It really disturbs me that they glorify bullshit.

Life's not fair. Its not fair how some people are struggling and others are living large, and bragging about it all the time. My mom has never even been on a vacation or owned a car. She has worked hard all her life and had to support kids with virtually no help so tell me how you love that!

Unknown said...

i know what you mean, someone actually said to me last night that black people wouldnt have anything or ever know success if there wasnt rap music or sports. i couldnt believe my ears, its just sad. and to make it worse, he was black. kinda makes you wonder what example we r setting for our kids

Starr said...

Wow what can i say but Wow

Mz.Yonna said...

What u are saying is crazy but true and the same thing goes on in school. Its like two different color kids can cheat on the same test, but the consquences differ. The white kid a slap on the wrist with a test re-take the black kid gets a mark on their record.

Starr said...

What are we gonna do about this world. some told me the other day that you can only educate a black person to a certain limit, meanwhile we ARE actually making a name for ourselves, and to make it worse black people turn on their own race and say things THEY themselves KNOW is not true.

Unknown said...

yea all of thiis that you've said is tru but if we continue to feel sorry for ourselves, making excuses, and pitying one another..we will get nowhere. If we see that "our" communities downtrotten the "we" have to do something about it..no one else will.I'm definitely not saying that things are fair because we know they're not..but we can't move forward if we dweel on the faults of our nation that we seemingly have not the power to change. All we can do is try..try to make a difference, try to do better, or try to STICK TOGETHER..because clearly nobody has our back..not even us #ijustsayin

kreative_mindz said...

You spoke nothing but the truth. I wish I could copy & paste this. Sorry that the world is like that. I still see black kids race to the back of the Bus forgetting about the fact Rosa Parks went to jail for standing up for her rights. GOD BLESS you Shad I pray for a better world.

Unknown said...

you are so right about that i mean it does need to change

Gulsum said...

Now this is seriously the truth!
We all need to open our eyes up and look at this world where we live in. This is so true!
God Bless you tooo! loveyou <3

yo son i live right around around the corner from you in G-County... and its crazy cause being from up top these people dont get it... nothing will ever be equal because they there will be no one to look down upon... but Atlanta needs to get there shit together. but atlanta does not care about the inner city b/c with 1996 when i was only 5 they out all the homeless people on buses with one way tickets out of Atlanta because they were hosting the olympics. its just crazy what these people will go through

B.Unique said...

I agree with you 100%, but in the same token we have to be the change we want too see. Its such a shame we are not judged by the folks who are doing the right things we are judged by the ones who make us look bad. If we continue to be positive and fight and force our way thru the negative I am postive that there is a light at teh end of the tunnel. We are Gods people and once we start claiming and acting like that then there is nowhere to go but up for us.

So what's your point? Not to be rude or funny, I see this, my family and friends see this, We talk about it, we laugh about, We complain bi*** and moan about. But we can't ask for change if we don't show change. If our parents don't push us, if we don't push our kids. I'm 23 year old female working on my masters and like me, so are my friends even the ones from my old block in Brooklyn NY. But what about so many of our youth, who want to be the Next You, or Gucci or idealize those who get money the illegal way.
But i must say Much Love to Geoff Canada changing Harlem one block at a time. We need more of them in every Black hood in the country.

Why ask for equality, if we still have slave mentality?
Thank you for letting me voice my opinion and thanks for reading.

Speechless, point taken that's what this planet is like, not just in one place all over the globe, it's a bubble that seems we can not burst, but we gotta step up and show what we are made of!

Bow Wow, first off stop saying "We". You have been famous since you were 3 years old. Your like the Olsen twins. All you have ever known was fame and money. You might know how it is in the "Hood" but you sure as hell haven't experienced it. So get real. Noone's buying that shit. And if you haven't paid attention, the government is doing good things for the "Hood". Have you seen the new affordable living communities they are building in New Orleans? Ya, didn't think so. They are 1000 times nicer than what they were before. And stop comparing punishments people receive. You could go on forever with that shit. What about Donte Stallworth? He killed a guy while drunk driving. How many days did he get? 23. Or what about OJ? He murdered two people. The homie had his wifes blood on his sock and got off. Or what about Ray Lewis??? He beat a man to death and got off. What color were these guys skin? Exactly. If you want to make a change, stop being a bitch and pointing the finger. Change starts with every individual. It's 2010. Our president is African American. BTW, What are you talking about with WAYNE? The gun was on his bus. Regardless if it was his or not he clearly had some issues. Have you seen the documentary on him? Wayne would have probably been dead by now if it wasn't for jail. Could have easily overdosed on Syrup.

Woww, I understand why people are still haten for no reason. Since good never happen to them, now they hate good shit. It was just (Bow Wow) his opinion on how peolple should be treated the same way as other n u Ryan gon get here tlk smack. I think u white thts why u talking like that. U hateful mutha. Bow, what I thing is, they tryna find a ways and means to get rid of A.A, but it ain't gonna happen so keep doing ur great things that u do. YMCMB

That sad part is that all the situations spoken on are true. black people hate on eachother and the world follows suit. Its impossibly to expect equal treatment becuz the scales have always been tipped. We neva received anything our ancestors were promised and the cycle continues. Everyone wants to say black people dont want help and refuse to help themselves but when we do ask, were criticized. thats why we stop asking and do for ourselves. we've been taught to survive by any means neccessary and even when shit is goood, society has to find something bad in it just to fuck things up, shits gonna change and it really cant over night, people are still trying to find ways to make Obama's presidency illegal. Just remember these country was built on crime, racism and abuse. I guess you really cant "change a player's game in the ninth inning"

Well Said bow..It makes me angry alos and I try to stay positive and believe GOD for a change..It's really upsetting to the afro american race. They put liquor stores and bodega's in our area to destroy our black men. St Ives, Old English, etc. The worst beer ever..but cheap and affordable for the black man..SMH When will the change come? When will there be equality? You keep on doing your thing Shad..You are the example of what our young black men should be like and a role model. You encourage them to never give up on their dreams..You are Purpose Driven Shad..I love you and support all that you do. I'm proud of who you are in society. Never change, stay focused...Madea's Big Happy Family 2011 G3 Soon...lol :-) God bles..

I absolutely agree! We have a black president, that's about it! I see hidden and not so hidden racism quite often, it's ridiculous! I'm glad you said something, now people are age can be represented by someone positive that may share our thoughts! ONE person can't do it alone, they need help! Thanks for dropping that "gangsta grandpa" wisdom! I LOVE YOU

I Love How You Put That And You Have A Great Mine , If Someone Does Not Say It Then Who Will ? And Im Glad You Were ! I Love You Bow Wow !

I agree with you. However, as a people, we can't sit around and complain about things not being fair, we have to band together and make it equal. i was just reading W.E.B. DuBois and Booker T. Washington and their views on race and equality. we have to educate our own and get our own together. we have to become entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers, and other professions and raise our kids to believe that they are royalty. we have to rebuild our neighborhoods instead of tearing them down with nonsense.

its crazy because my moma & i talk about this all the time. its like the media always try to justify situations for caucaions. but whwn it comes to african americans we always have to get pentalized for the situations we get into. when you think about it martin luther king jr. dream came true halfway, meaning that african americans are free but when it come to everyone being treated equal that will never happen. just think about with president obama all the presidents before him were always & still are presented to us as president so & so but now that we have an african american president people refer to him as obama. thats not cool at least in my opinion its not.

Unknown said...

Thanks for the great article..glad yall see the differences/ diff treatments.
Same goes for in the workplace, the wages/salaries/benefits is way too diff. It's like a black face will always be a black face. But it will for sure change..nothing last forever. Just greatfull to the previous black leaders that did a great job, good changes we have now compared to 20 yrs ago, especially here in South Africa.
It's up to us...to show ppl what treatment we want as a black nation.

Thanks and Congrad Bow the article was very well thought of and well written and someone need to be real and say how things are really are. keep doing your thing much respect.

I agree with you to an extent, but you have to remember that Lindsay, Lil Wayne got in trouble in two different states. Lindsay is basically destroying herself so the system isn't anything to worry about. Lil Wayne more than likely has previous charges, and the fact that the gun was on his tour bus makes it look like it was his. Plus you know that there is no snitching in the streets so do you think he was gonna call someone out? Blacks may have it bad, but every race has it's own battle. Being dealt a bad hand doesn't give anyone an excuse to become a criminal just because things aren't going there way. I wish me and you could have one on one conversations because you seem so level headed, and intelligent. Keep up the good work.

You know what Bow it takes alot of courage to say that stuff because you are so right! Thats why I am so glad that Michael Basiden is doing the Mentors Program because it will help give the inner city kids hope. I know I grew up in toledo ohio and have seen some things I should have not seen. The school I went to didnt have good books nor a computer to every child but then my mom transfered us to a "high class school" and they had everything and it was the best! I pray that Martin Luther's Dream keeps growing because it has not been fulfilled yet! God Bless you

I don't mean to sound like a dickhead but....I'm not sure how this comes as a suprise. This has been going on for years if not....decades. This was very well-written. Sometimes in order to see change, we have to facilitate the change we want to see. What you have written sounds like it could be a catalyst for a very thought-provoking screen-play, song, rap, or script for a play/drama. Keep up the good work!

I agree with you, but its not what you know but what you can prove. I am not from the hood side of Atlanta but I have been there and grew up in the hood of Savannah. I don't think its a racist issue but more of a inner race issue. I think its something we should look for each other. I know a lot of "ghetto" people and they are people who love the hood, and would never leave or never change. Rappers they rap about how there from the hood and then when they "get big" they talk about broke people like they weren't there before. White people look out for their race. They invest on their children and community. Yes, SOME African American communites does that but not all. We have it so bad that when we finally get out the hood we never want to look back. This is a sensitive subject that should be anaylzed very carefully.
